I accidentally came across this whole Blog thing by following the link to a friend's Blog post - Nic, who is writing about her travels and journeys in India, going on a fun spiritual trip and yoga retreat with an inspirational and pioneering American yoga teacher, Shiva Rae. Nic's blog was intriguing, telling her initial departure from home continent Australia and arrival in India - transforming my hum-drum day of sitting on the couch into an exotic daydream of distant lands, intoxicating stories of people, unique character filled faces, unfamiliar smells & exciting new sights. The trepid, lonely edginess that traveling alone brings - fully in the present, responsible for your own head, heeding the 'call of the wild'. Senses pert.
I comfortably sit looking out the window from my comfy faux-fur covered couch in the quiet hum of the living room, overlooking the lush suburban "district" forrest outside my window. My tropical hike/journey this morning involved man-handling a bike, yoga mat, backpack, cellphone and umbrella down the narrow path beside my building this morning in the rain. Hoping my breaks were going to work on the steep hill. Adrenaline - yes, but not quite the dense tropical forrest and jungles of India, meeting the locals, observing the colours of the women's saris and catching adrift various smells of burning rubbish and local spices. Well, I did just make myself a grilled cheeze pita with chorizo (after I picked the mold spots off the pita). There's something very international...borderline...exotic?? about that hogde podge afternoon snack. American-Lebanese-Spanish concoction. I guess my afternoon was not so hum-drum after all.
Mainly thanks to Nic for providing insight and inspiration, all the way from India which has crept into my living room and onto my comfy couch - and perhaps another past time-thing (aside from facebook, yoga, walks and the odd Manly Daily) to fulfill my afternoons of newly found freedom....that's for another story....another blog post...if I can remember that I signed up for this thing in a week's time....and the password....
